STEP ONE :: DESIGN
Inspiration and a sketch pad. That’s where it all begins. All Salvations tables and accessories are designed by founder, Barry Remley, and hand crafted and finished by local artisans.
Salvations proudly offers custom design services to our clients. We can modify an existing design to meet certain specifications or to match a room with a particular aesthetic. We can also fuse styles or design something completely new. Innovation, along with impeccable design and service, is what we’re all about. For details on how to place a custom order, read more.

STEP TWO :: SALVAGE
Salvations reuses and recycles materials whenever possible. This practice reduces waste and also lends continuity to our work, allowing the artistry of one piece to subtly enrich the creation of another.
Architectural elements can be added to furniture pieces for an elegant infusion of history. Many Salvations architectural elements come from the Brass Knob in Washington, DC. Barry also collects interesting pieces from salvage yards and architectural dealers whenever she travels in the States and abroad.
Castings and other decorative details are either hand forged by our blacksmiths, custom made for Salvations by other artists or purchased from vendors in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
STEP THREE :: FABRICATION
All Salvations products are fabricated and forged by our artist blacksmiths in Virginia and Maryland. Their talent and hard work are a driving force behind our reputation for quality craftsmanship - and our success.
Each blacksmith produces different specialty pieces exclusively for Salvations. Precise drawings and specifications are given to the blacksmith with each work order. The blacksmiths deliver finished pieces to our studio every week. The raw iron is perfectly crafted and cleaned, and only in need of the finishing touches.
STEP FOUR :: FINISHING
Upon arrival at our studio, each piece is carefully inspected, cleaned and sanded, as necessary, to ensure smooth edges and consistent texture for finishing. Tables are measured for tops, and those with curved frames are delivered directly to the fabricator to ensure a perfect fit.
Then the painting begins. Our complex painted finishes are painstakingly applied by artists in our Maryland studio. Most of our finishes have a minimum of three colors, and some have as many as six or more. The originality of our finishes and the skill with which they are applied are another distinction that sets Salvations apart.
After final inspection, and then another inspection, and then some admiration and well-wishing, the beautifully handcrafted piece is ready to be on its way.
